(Below) This 1920 studio image depicts “Miss Canada” as she takes to the backcountry dressed to the height of below-zero style. The lady’s title appears to be informal, as does not appear that a “Miss Canada” was official crowned until the 1923 Montreal Winter Carnival. February 11, 1923 Winnifred Blair, "Miss Saint John", is crowned the first Miss Canada, at the Montreal Winter Carnival. Miss Blair returns by train to the port city amid thousands of cheering supporters.
